A Letter to you

Method : field recordings, processing, arduino, vibrating motors, charcoal drawings.

Year : 2012-2014

Communication is essentially based on these various senses: seeing, hearing, touching. This project began with questioning about the communication between the human body and the environments.

Through this series of work, I wanted to take some time to think about the connectivity between the nature and humans by comparing the visualization of human hearing and what the audience hears from the recorded sounds.

I compared visual images by first capturing nature’s true sound, through human ears — binaural recorder. Through computer coding, I arranged sounds between value and pitch, using my recordings in the field as sound files. These sound files make vibrations beneath paper, moving powdery pigments onto the paper to create images.
