In the project ‘~!@#$%^&’, I consider finding oneself and understanding others through the sensory experience. The application project is about discerning the process of human cognition when people interpret an untutored language. For the research of the cognition process in the untaught language, I conducted some interviews in a Spanish community in Colombia. Interviewees were asked to match the names of colors between Spanish and Korean based on the word’s visual appearance. Based on the field research responses, audio files are created. Each audio file is a combination of multiple people’s voices found on a binaural 3-D audio effect. Also each of the voices says one of six color words in Spanish at the same time. Every non-Spanish audience member struggles with recognizing the word, and is bewildered by other people’s interpretation while sharing opinions.
